In the opening week, the movie has grossed about 1.42 crores and the same feat has been repeated in the second week. Thus the film earned a total of around three crores in fifteen days. From its 60 odd releasing centers, the film has now gathered about Rs 1.60 Crore as distributors share.

One of the interesting facts related to the shooting of the movie was that the director Ranjith had to move to Goa for shooting the scenes of church because none of the church authorities in Kerala allowed him to shoot the movie here.

Finally, they settled in an old Church in Goa. The art director of the film made a beautiful statue of St Francis here in Goa. It was later gifted the church following the completion of the shooting.

Attitudinal change in Balakrishna

September 29, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): After successive failures, Balakrishna tasted a big success like ‘Simha’. This had helped him for a change in his attitude. He had earlier accepted films without taking into account the story and his characterization. Whoever may be the producer and director, he gave nods for films. His ignorance resulted in disasters like ‘Okka Magadu’ as Balakrishna purely believed YVS Choudary. Now that he woke up to reality and took a decision only to listen to the story and his characterization and then only accept any film.

Bapu will direct Balakrishna

September 29, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): The veteran director Bapu is well known in the Telugu film industry for his unique approach to film making. A source in the film industry recently revealed that currently Bapu is working on a film based on Ramayana. This is not the run-of-the-mill mythological story about the fight between Lord Rama and Ravana. The story will be based on Lava and Kusa, the two sons of Lord Ram.

Reports also suggested that Bapu has roped in Balakrishna to play the lead role in the upcoming flick. Mythological films are nothing new for Bapu and he has become an expert in making some of the best Mythology themed movies in Tollywood. Quite interestingly, years ago a movie about ‘Lava and Kusa’ was made years ago and that film had NT ramarao in the lead role.

The re-iteration of the old flick will have Balakrishna in the lead role and we hope that the actor lives up to the high benchmark set by NT Ramarao. The movie has been aptly names Sri Ramayana and it will be launched by September 30 this year. The musical maestro IIayaraj is going to score for the upcoming mythological extravaganza. Certain sources have suggested that two songs for the film have been recorded as well. we are not sure about who will portray the coveted role of Sita in the upcoming flick. We are pretty sure that Nayantara is a good candidate for the role because she has the earthy good looks that Sita was famous for.

Prosenjit pulls off a Nayak in Autograph

September 29, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): Recently we caught up with Prosenjit and asked a few questions about his upcoming film Autograph. The movie has been directed the veteran Srijit Mukherjee and produced by Shree Venkatesh Films. The superstar claimed that this movie is a tribute to the Uttam Kumar starrer Nayak. The actor said that there are certain common factors among all Bengali Superstars and he has tried to portray that in ‘Autograph’.

Prosenjit got candid during the interview and said that there are a lot of rumors about him in the industry that he has tried to address through this film. Prosenjit does not feel good about being tagged as a master manipulator of the Bengali film industry who exploits his heroines. The actor feels that it is important to have good relations with his co-actors and he has never tried to influence other people’s judgment to further his own cause.

Prosenjit also told us that he used to get emotional when he was young but with experience he has matured enough to understand that emotions do not matter in the industry. Nowadays the actor chooses not to react to controversies and stays away from them. Prosenjit maintains that he still remains a highly emotional person but now he has learned to control his emotions.

The film stars Abir Chatterjee and Koel mallick in lead roles the cast includes other veteran actors like Manoj Mitra, Suman Banerjee, Locket Chatterjee, Tanima Bose, Dapankar De and others. After playing the role of the Bengal’s favorite smooth talking sleuth, Abir is back as the smart street ruffian and plays the role perfectly. The director duo of Sudeshna and Abhijit got a superb performance out of this actor.

The plot of this movie revolves around a hot headed guy Raju, who is kind of a robin hood of the locality and likes to live life at the edge. Raju has a nemesis in Sanu (played by Suman Chatterjee), who is the boyfriend of Purna (Koel). As luck would have it the duo fall in love but do not realize it until the end of the movie. The abir-koel chemistry was superb throughout the movie and managed to pull the heart strings of the crowd.

Koel mallick plays her role as a bubble chirpy girl to perfection as well. The supporting cast gave a well rounded performance and helped take the story forward. Shikaar Is Final Winner In Ramzan Race!

September 29, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): Mollywood had three big releases during the Ramzan month but the ultimate winner in this race has turned out to be superstar Mohanlal’s Shikaar. The two other Malayalam movies released during the period were Vande Mathram and Elsamma Enna Aankutty.

Shikaar had got a grand opening during the first few days and continued the success journey for first few weeks in almost all the major centers. It is the only movie among the three releasing during Ramzan that could maintain this trend. The movie has reportedly collected an amount of 3.5 crores as a distributor share from its first two weeks.

In the meantime, the Mammootty starrer Vande Mathram has failed to create magic at the Box Office. It is a bilingual movie, which was made with a budget of around 7 to 8 crore. However, it seems to have lost charm among the audience and is expected to earn not more than 3 crores from the box office. However, the producer is alleging lead actor Mammootty for not cooperating and showing lack of interest in this movie and according to him it is a big reason of the loss. He said that the film also got delayed for Mammootty. The producer further added that they had to cut some of the scenes as they were done badly by the actor.

The third movie in the race Elsamma Enna Aankutty has however done much better than Vande Mathram. It has been already declared as a hit and the director Lal Jose could manage even more viewers than Shikaar in some centers. It is running steady with audience coming to the theaters even on the third week.
