July 20, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): Daniel Radcliffe, who shot to stardom after he enacted the role of Harry Potter, has been confirmed to act in the lead role in a forthcoming movie by James Watkins. The movie is basically a big screen version of ‘The Woman in Black’, a novel by Susan Hill.
The movie is going to be produced as well as co-financed by both Hammer Films and Alliance Films. Jane Goldman, who also penned the script for ‘Kick Ass’, is also doing the same for this film. The script reveals the story of a youthful lawyer as played by Radcliffe. The lawyer is then ordered to travel to a distant corner of the U.K. and clear out a lately departed client’s papers.
As he works completely alone in this old and remote house, he begins to discover its heartbreaking secrets, and his uneasiness grows after he finds out that the local township is held captive by a ghost, the spirit of a scorned woman seething for vengeance.
The movie’s production should begin in the fall this year. Alliance Films has taken up the distribution rights for the movie in the United Kingdom through its label Momentum, Spain and Canada. Exclusive Films International is taking care of its global sales.
